  • Captain Charlie Plumb Nearly 6 Years Being Prisoner Of War

    #14 Captain Charlie Plumb has lived what he believes to be the American Dream. As a farm kid from Kansas, he fantasized about airplanes, although he felt certain he would never have the opportunity to pilot one. It would be the United States Navy who afforded Plumb the opportunity to live out that dream.

    On his 75th mission, just five days before the end of his tour, he was shot down, taken prisoner, tortured, and spent the next 2,103 days in an 8-by-8 foot cell as a Prisoner Of War. During his nearly six years of captivity, Plumb distinguished himself as a pro in underground communications. He was a great inspiration to all the other POWs and served as chaplain for two years.

    Louise Sertsis has been dealing with physical disability for many years. She is an advocate for the disabled, trying to make society aware that we have the same wants and needs as our abled bodied counterparts. She has had Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for twenty years, and have been on long term disability for thirteen of those years. She has a university degree and a strong desire to help individuals with differing abilities. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with MS during her studies, therefore having a very different life experience than most.

    Louise went through a very dark point in her life where everything seemed impossible and hopeless. She was able to emerge with a sense of purpose and excitement for the future after feeling reborn, and ready to start living once again. No one else would hire me, so she started Advanced Freedom and created the Handi Pac! Advanced Freedom is driven and inspired by the lives of people with physical disabilities.

    Jesi's goal is simple: show the world there is opportunity in their obstacles. She helps people achieve their dreams through the importance of goal setting.

    Patrick O’Dooley is a native of Dallas, Texas. He attended the University of Oklahoma on an athletic scholarship, graduating with a degree in marketing. After serving in the U.S. Army overseas as an aviation officer, O’Dooley returned to Dallas, where he enjoyed a successful career in sales and sales management with IBM and Steelcase Furniture Corporation.

    A commercial pilot, our speaker has spoken in all 50 states, and 7 foreign nations during the past 20 years. He served on the board of directors of the National Speaker’s Association where he earned their highest designation of Certified Speaking Professional, a distinction held by less than 475 speakers in the world.
