When a run goes red, the fact of failure tells you almost nothing: it can be a product bug, a broken test, stale data, a dead environment, a contract change, or a known issue that already has a ticket. Our rule is one defect per cause in Allure TestOps, a matcher rule on every defect so recurring failures link themselves in later runs, and a tracker issue created through the integration when the cause is a genuine product bug. On top of that we connected Cursor / Claude Code to the TestOps and tracker MCP servers and wrote a /testops-run-defects skill that walks a run end to end: it pulls unresolved failures, groups them by shared cause, checks existing defects so it doesn't create duplicates, separates product bugs from test, data, environment and Swagger problems, creates defects with matchers, and fills in the tracker fields. On one real run: 29 unresolved failed/broken results processed, 9 defects created, 9 tracker issues linked, 0 unresolved results left.

  • Benchmarking RocksDB’s Three Amplification Factors

This story was originally published on HackerNoon at: https://hackernoon.com/benchmarking-rocksdbs-three-amplification-factors.

Four RocksDB experiments show how deletes, key order, Bloom filters and compaction I/O distort read, write and space amplification.

RocksDB benchmarks show that deletes can increase disk usage, L0 files can raise lookup latency and sequential keys can conceal write amplification. The larger lesson is that key distribution, system load and compaction capacity matter more than any isolated configuration knob.

This story was originally published on HackerNoon at: https://hackernoon.com/sql-server-vs-excel-why-we-wont-let-go-of-spreadsheets-and-when-its-time-to.

Why does this gap exist? Why do capable, data-literate teams keep copying numbers into cells instead of querying a proper database? Let's look at it honestly.

The Excel-vs-database debate isn't really about software. It's about habits. Teams stick with what's familiar, even when it's quietly costing them hours of manual work, occasional data disasters, and reports nobody fully trusts.
