Your folder structure is a message—most teams send the wrong one. Conway's Law, a $90k onboarding tax, and 3 major outages show why codebase structure matters.

Every endpoint returned 200. Every latency measurement was green. Meanwhile a third of the product cards had a dead click handler, a call-to-action had been inert long enough for a shopper to click it five times in 26 seconds on a session recording, and product images sat fully loaded inside cards that were one pixel tall. None of it was visible from the server, because a handler that never compiles leaves no trace there. Here is each bug, the measurement that actually found it, and the assertion I now write instead.

Manual cloud diagrams get outdated the second you save them, and SaaS visualizers often demand access to your sensitive .tfstate files. As a platform engineer tired of tracing infrastructure dependencies by hand, I built TerraViz—a single-binary, open-source Go CLI. It runs entirely on your local machine to turn your Terraform state into interactive, searchable AWS architecture diagrams, with no Docker, Node.js, or external databases required.

We investigated intermittent Kong 503 responses where the logs showed only the status code and an empty upstream address. Worker-level metrics and dmesg eventually showed that a cgroup OOM event had killed one of the two NGINX workers in the Kong pod.

At inDrive, we replaced order.txt with a validated dependency graph and parallel Terragrunt jobs in GitHub Actions. Across 355 rollouts, parallel apply took 64 hours versus an estimated 171 hours for serial execution—a 2.7× aggregate speedup. Small PRs often ran slower, so serial apply remains the default.
