  • Basta Bombe su Gaza! Restiamo Umani

🇪🇺 Stop the Bombing of Gaza! Let’s Stay Human

Meeting with Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestine

Today (Friday, June 20) at 9:00 PM in Piazza Portello, we will be together with Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestine (joining remotely), and Professor Marco Mascia, President of the Human Rights Centre at the University of Padua, to loudly proclaim: STOP THE BOMBS on Gaza!

Israel must immediately cease fire and allow HUMANITARIAN AID to enter the Strip.

Let us raise our voices now—before it’s too late...

This initiative comes from a group of young (and not-so-young) people, aged between 20 and 40, who formed the spontaneous committee “Gaza: let’s remain human.”

A grassroots group with no party affiliations, united by the moral urgency to mobilize, denounce, and protest against the escalating violence and the systematic violations of human rights currently taking place in the Gaza Strip.

The goal is simple but essential: to mobilize as many people as possible, including those who, despite feeling the injustice, have remained silent until now.

    Endorsed by:

Doctors with Africa CUAMM, ACLI, National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI), ProgressivA EU, Students for UDU Padova, ONDA, Health Workers for Gaza, Union for Democracy in Iran, CGIL Padova, UIL, Beati i Costruttori di Pace, Network of High School Students Padova, Scouts, Circolo Blow Up, AGESCI.

Special thanks to Pier Luigi Bersani for the video encouraging everyone to mobilize.

🧑‍🎄 2022 in the EU: ProgressivA podcast 🇪🇺

👉 2022 was a long difficult year for many Europeans, first of all for those who suffered the consequences of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Our thoughts are with all of them. However, also good things happened, and in this difficult period, we want to focus also on the positive in our life, and on the positive changes happening at the European level. We chatted about the Fit for 55 updates of the European Climate law, new legislation on mental health and the need for prevention, and minimum wage and labor standards.

    🇸🇪 Sweden’s New Government 🇪🇺

A new article on Sweden by Simon Davidsson, a Ph.D. candidate in political science in Lund, Sweden. Since October 18, Sweden's new government consists of the conservative Moderates and Christian Democrats together with the center-right Liberals. The three are in minority and have struck a formal agreement with the far-right Sweden Democrats. The agreement gives the government support of a 176 to 173 majority in the Swedish Riksdag. The new government, as well as the preceding electoral campaign and the formation negotiations, represent several novelties and changes in Swedish political life. It also means major policy changes for the labor market, migration, and energy sector, with consequences for Sweden, Europe, and beyond, changes that suggest that it matters greatly if the left or the right is in office.

    ⛽️ Winter is coming 🇪🇺🇺🇦🇷🇺

⛽️ And we also have a new article by our Bulgarian activist Vessela Mitkova, who is currently doing a Ph.D. on the external relations of the EU, with a focus on the US and Russia

🇺🇦🇷🇺 The Russia–Ukraine conflict has drastically affected Europe’s energy security 🪫⚡️

🇪🇺 But this year will be Europe’s third consecutive winter of energy crisis. How did we get here and what can be done? ❓

That’s all for this newsletter. We want to remind you that we have a 72% off for students on our subscription. And if you are interested in our project we invite you to join our team. Our Annual Assembly will be held on the 6th of April 2023 and everyone is welcome. We wish you a great end of 2022 and a peaceful and socialist 2023. See you soon! 💌

☮️ In wishing you and your families happy and peaceful holidays Tania, Arturo, and Paco had a chat about the main events in 2022 in the EU. 🇪🇺

🏳️‍🌈 It was a difficult dramatic year, especially for the terrible events that led to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. And to all those who suffered because of this senseless conflict which was the result of the will of only a few powerful ruthless men goes our thought.

👉 However, also good things happened, and in this difficult period, we want to focus also on the positive in our life, and on the positive changes happening at the European level. We chatted about the Fit for 55 updates of the European Climate law, mental health and the need for prevention, and about minimum wage and labor standards.

  • 🇮🇹 The condition of future mothers in Veneto and in Europe.

🇮🇹🇪🇺 What does it mean to be a mother today in Veneto and in Europe? What forms of welfare are guaranteed in the Italian region and what needs to be improved instead? How does it position itself in the European comparison?

💪 Giorgia Cazzola, co-founder of Arbury Road and lawyer, talked about this and much more with Margherita Colonnello, municipal councillor of the Democratic Party of Padua, a young European activist and candidate in the next municipal elections on June 12. # maternity #maternity # administrative2022
