Progressive Palaver

Episode 77 – Toad the Wet Sprocket Part 1 – Bread and Circus, Pale & Fear

Paul and Joe come back from a short hiatus to start the first of a very short segment on Toad the Wet Sprocket. They explore the intimate connection that Toad has with the Palaver crew and whether or not this music is strictly “progressive” (spoiler, the answer is sort of but not really). Toad the Wet Sprocket get very high marks for maturity and songwriting even in these earlier albums and Fear is recognized for the all the superb moments it contains.

Episode 66 – Genesis Part 6, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

Ken, Joe and Paul dive into The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. This is an album that required a certain amount of effort for us to get our mind around. Interestingly, each Palaver member ended up with their approach and interpretation of this work. What is the story? What does the imagery mean? What exactly IS the lamb? These questions and more are pondered while the group considers the music as well.

SCS20 - Total Mass Retain, Kennett Square PA

Words cannot describe the fun contained in this Special Concert Series edition of the Palaver. This conversation took place immediately after TMR’s show at the Kennett Flash. Not only were Joe, Paul and Ken all together (always a treat) they are joined by Joey, Mark and Joel of Total Mass Retain and Tom and Ann from ProgStock ALL at Paul’s kitchen table. A lively conversation took place. Ken’s excellent sound engineering captures levels of detail not normally available on the Palaver including the slightly noisy introduction of a pack of gummy bears to the festivities in the middle. This Palaver may be a bit different but we hope this recording captures the fun and joy of a group of friends having a great time in each other’s company. Our deepest thanks to our friends who joined us on this one.

SCS19 – Rick Wakeman, Allentown PA

Friend of the Palaver Ken Fuller lends his experience again as he joins Ken and Joe to review the Rick Wakeman show from October 2019. While Ken Gregory was busy covering ProgStock, Ken Fuller was taking in the joys of a Rick Wakeman piano concert from his exclusive box seats. This palaver is a light, entertaining jaunt as is befitting a recap of a Wakeman show. Enjoy!
