Madelyn Postman's life took her from a childhood in Reno and middle school in San Francisco to Exeter, Brown, Italy, and her current home in England. There, she lives with her husband and two children, and works as a sustainability consultant. She talks to Kakki Reynolds Lewis about her Exeter experience; their shared Chinese, Jewish, and biracial identities; and the writing process, notably Madelyn's recent memoir, Staring Into the Sun, which traces the Chinese side of her ancestry in a quest to know her mother, who died of suicide when Madelyn was four.
