"I try to raise the profile of magic from being a puzzle, up to being an art form. Where it's not just me presenting a bunch of random magic tricks, but instead I try to tell a story about a time period and about people and the characters that were alive during that time period. To really understand what was going on in magic at that time. " ~Professor DR Schreiber
From Portland, Oregon my guest this episode has taken the art of stage magic and elevated it to historical proportions. Bad pun aside I had the pleasure of talking to Professor DR Schreiber otherwise known as The Historical Conjurer.
We talked about his unique magic show and how he combined a life-long love of performing magic tricks with a penchant for the Victorian and Regency eras to create an entertaining and informative look at the history behind stage magic. A window in a bygone era that gave rise to the modern magic shows we see today.
You can find more about Professor DR Schreiber, his shows and appearances as well as the work he does within the broader magic community on his website, HistoricalConjurer.com

"People sometimes need someone else to unlock that story inside of them. There are ways you can guide a conversation to allow someone to open that door and speak freely in such a way that becomes ultimately interesting." ~ Caleb
My guest for this episode is the host of the Caleb Versus Self podcast. Caleb and I have been professional colleagues and friends for a few years now and more recently we've been creative collaborators in the podcast space.
Caleb has developed a conversational style of interviewing that goes far beyond just featuring a guest. Digging deeper into the motivations and perspectives of interesting people from all walks of life and unique experiences. We talked about how he approaches researching potential guests to how he crafts these compelling conversations.
Most importantly to me, we aired out our ongoing debate and differing views of Caleb's insistence that he is NOT, in fact, a Creator despite my assertions that he most definitely is. Take a listen and judge for yourself.
You can hear Caleb's conversations with interesting folks from all sorts of unique and interesting backgrounds for yourself HERE: Caleb Versus Self
