Advances in Commercial GEOINT Panel The initial impetus for real growth in the commercial GEOINT satellite market was the need to augment classified systems and ‘off-load’ lower priority, non-time dominant collection so government systems could focus on the truly critical issues. For example, most of the so-called mapping mission went to commercial. That was then, this is now. Today the government recognizes that national security mission success dictates far greater “persistence” including through all weather conditions…and the ability to glean insights from parts of the spectrum not currently collected. This panel will explore how rapid revisit collection throughout the day and night and through cloud-cover using SAR is enabling both new government and commercial customers. In addition, it will explore how hyperspectral imaging can unlock new types of information.

Project Geospatial is proud to host GeoSpark Analytic's Weekly Pulse to give you the latest news on global events based on a unique Geospatial Technology. This week is narrated by Kevin Helm, Geospark's Head of Business Development. The news is generated by GeoSpark's Hyperion application which gathers news from global sources, social media, economic sources, NGOs, and government in near-real-time. Hyperion translates, reads, geo-positions, and analyzes the information to find trends in the data, identify abnormalities, and analyze breaking events impact on local and regional stability levels. Listen in and find out more.
About Geospark Analytics
Geopark Analytics was founded in 2017 to inventory the world's critical events to aid the decision making of our clients. By identifying and forecasting emerging global events at machine speed, Hyperion mitigates risk, recognizes threats, and leverages opportunities. Our insights stem from sourced data from space, social media, and news reporting with machine learning, artificial intelligence, and natural language generation. Geospark Analytics has received funding from Zero Gravity Capital and is backed by General Catalyst. The company is based in Herndon, Virginia. More information can be found at geospark.io. In this session, Adam Simmons interviews Chris Rasmussen on his best practices and lessons learned behind operating organizations in unclassified open environments, enabling the workforce to work from home, and how to promote integration and adoption of new technologies.
Chris Rasmussen was the architect behind the Unclassified GEOINT Pathfinder initiative, which aimed to transform GEOINT into a discipline more rooted in open-source intelligence (OSINT) to prepare for the rapid commercialization of GEOINT. Mr. Rasmussen drove the initiative that made NGA the first intelligence agency to open source software on GitHub and place apps into the Apple Store and Google Play. The ability to place government apps in commercial stores helped Pathfinder execute its "Tearline strategy" - deliver unclassified, original GEOINT content to a customer’s mobile device before they enter a secure facility or on the go. Mr. Rasmussen's current role with public-facing collaborative efforts grew from the campaign to maximize internal information sharing within the United States Intelligence Community (IC)

Christine Jung is President of Blue Compass, an IT consulting firm specializing in Data Science and Innovation Management. Christine looks for ways to leverage Blue Compass’ innovation and data skills for positive social impact. She recently directed a virtual hackathon to combat child trafficking with almost 200 participants, including hackers around the world.
Child trafficking is a local problem with global connections; NoVA is actually one of the most active human trafficking hubs in the country with many victims hidden in plain sight. Unfortunately, technology can be both an enabler and a solution. Blue Compass sees these hackathons as an incubator for innovative solutions, as well as a way to inspire and create synergy amongst developers for making a positive social impact. Let’s join the fight to combat human trafficking using technology for good.

Dive into Spire as Keith Johnson gives us a rundown of who Spire is and what they do around satellite-based RF Collection.
General Spire Overview: Spire Global, Inc. is a satellite-powered data service and analytics provider that is focused on the collection of RF signals at a global scale in near real-time. Spire designs build and operate an expanding LEO constellation of over 88 3U CubeSatellites, a network of 32 ground stations, a real-time acquisition and processing system, and a cloud-based data distribution service. Spire Federal offers data & analytics that deliver insights into the parts of the world where collecting data is notoriously difficult. Ships, planes, and weather systems often go untracked in remote regions. Spire can identify, track, and predict the movement of the world's resources and weather systems so that government agencies can experience increased situational awareness and make smarter decisions about what to do next - a mission-critical capability considering how quickly our world is changing.
Spire offers four major services to its federal government customers:
