When you are running a business, much of your time will be spent putting out fires with customers, team members, yourself, and suppliers. Much of business is how to properly handle those fires and make sure to keep the show running.
Yesterday we went blueberry picking and I realized the importance of eating seasonally instead of what is available 24/7 at the grocery store.
When we experience the flow state, nothing can stop you. I experience this state periodically and get super pumped when I get in it because I feel like nothing can stop me from striving to become better and take over the world.
Today that moving truck has arrived and it will be the last time that happens in a very long time. I have moved 21 times in 16 years and it feels good to be at a place that will be our home for the future of raising our family and a place for Penelope to call home.
Today we closed on the house and it was a fantastic end to this crazy week of preparing to move into our new house. Building a house is a huge task and I am grateful to have gone through the process but glad it is coming to an end. It is a place that I can see myself living in for a long time.
Today was another great example of expectation vs. reality. The ongoing journey of the living room light and how it showed up at my house today. Thank you to the amazing crew at Hurlbutt Designs that called the trucking company and had them get the light off of the truck. They went and picked it up and delivered it to our house. Talk about customer service. We are so close but not quite there yet.
In this episode, saving $100 isn't always saving $100. The journey of our living room is a great example of that situation.
In this episode, I talk about how we become comfortable in a situation the more and more we get used to looking at the same thing. I also talk about the expectation vs. the reality of what is actually going on. We always expect things to go a certain way and sometimes that doesn't happen, or most of the time. How we handle it is the important part.
Are you financially nervous? For the first time in my life, I was able to say "No" to the question when Kate asked me. This is the week, we are closing on the house and things aren't falling into place as much as we would like. We are getting there, but not with everything.
Telling our kids, “Everything is Ok” isn’t always a good thing. There are many times throughout the day when we invalidate our own kids' experience. The way we treat ourselves can be improved and it is very important when it comes to treating our kids.
