* This article offers a nuanced interpretation of the primary proposition offered in the podcast.
What Sankaran’s article suggests is that the tactics being used by the Trump 2.0 version of the US empire to preserve its hegemony may be out of date, for the energy sector, at least.
This is, I suggest, is precisely what is happening. The US deepstate is short on expertise to manage its way out of the challenge which the BRICS+/SCO collective are issuing it. Evidence for this is everywhere (Russian military tech, China’s control over rare earths and their processing, the progressive de-dolarization of global trade etc. etc.).

* Sequera reports calm in Venezuela. There are a few protests in support of the government (Chavistas).
* People have experienced 5 months of threats from the US. They are neither in shock, nor panic.
* Sequera reports from his interviews in the MSM that they are spinning the narrative of a“power vacuum”, which is totally false. The Acting (Vice) President has assured the people that there is but one president, Maduro, who they demand the US release and return. This is a competent response from the sitting government of Venezuela.
* For now [2025-01-05], it appears that the US/CIA/Special Forces have achieved precisely nothing, except to clearly define themselves as lawless gangsters.
* A less generous way to express that the US has achieved nothing, might be to say “the political eduction of the US citizenry is far behind that of Venezuela”.
