Discussed in the podcast, this graph shows the government debt to GDP against the percentage yield for 30 year bonds on their currencies. Japan is a serious outlier.

Brooks show where Japan would be placed on “best fit” type line. Were it there, it would trigger a debt crisis for Japan. Japan has been selling US treasuries at a shortening frequency to prop up its currency. The US is very concerned with the pressure this is creating on US treasury bonds, hence the $5 to 10 billion bailout. But, that was in Euro.
