Today I’m joined by Emma Holdsworth. Emma Holdsworth is a mother of two, Family and Parenthood counsellor and Pregnancy and Postpartum Doula with over 20 years experience working with families.
Emma is passionate about supporting parents from pregnancy through to early parenting, offering a range of support packages both locally and online. Emma holds the mental health and emotional wellbeing of families as her highest priority, supporting parents to explore the deeper aspects of themselves and their relationships and understand how their childhood experiences, past relationships, values and beliefs will influence their parenting experience and the wellbeing of their babies and children.

"I tend to correct people, when they say ‘the grass is always greener on the other side’ well actually the grass is greener wherever you water it. And if you choose to water it in your own lawn, it’s gonna look great! But if your attention is elsewhere your lawns gonna suffer. So you can focus on yourself, you can look at what you do have. You will notice you have so much more than what you don't have. It’s this cool thing called gratitude. And when you feel gratitude you no longer feel the need to compare yourself endlessly.
Our brains physiologically can’t feel two emotions at the same time, your amygdala can only process one emotion at a time. So if you’re actively engaged in practicing gratitude your brain cannot experience anxiety and depression at the same time.”

Bullies and social media almost ruined his life. Drawing from his experiences and from his studies as a professional school counselor and digital safety educator, he passionately educates schools about the dangers of social media, and how to transform their culture into a culture of kindness. He helps kids to get over bullies, get off social media, and love their lives.

Everything that happens outside of us is neutral. We make it mean something. We are meaning making machines.
So we have a choice in every minute of the day to make something external to us, mean something to us in either a negative way, a neutral way or a positive way, however we want. Which makes us the creators, because we have a choice, how we see things, how we understand things and by having that incredible super power, that makes us the creator of our life.”
