In this Bible/adult study, Fr. Stephen Osburn continues his reflection on the Proskemedia in light of Lazarus Saturday, diving deeper into the theological and pastoral significance of this sacred preparation. In Part 2, we examine how the Proskemedia prefigures Christ’s victory over death and anticipates the resurrection—not only of Lazarus, but of all the faithful. Through the placing of particles on the diskos and the prayerful remembrance of souls, we glimpse the Church’s unwavering hope in the life to come. This study calls us to approach the Liturgy with greater reverence, aware that the mystery of the Resurrection is already unfolding in the altar.
