It's All Star Week in MLB and the WCBL just had it's All Star Game Sunday in Edmonton hosted by the Prospects and we were joined by Prospects closer David Wylie who picked up the save in the All Star Game. He grew up in San Diego idolizing Padres great Trevor Hoffman and told us his connection to the Hall of Fame closer. Dean and Jordan looked back at some past All Star Games, debated if Vlad Jr should be in the HR Derby and discussed who was the greatest catcher of all time. Lot's of ways to win free stuff as usual. The Prospects are home after a 2-1 road trip that included them getting no hit in Weyburn and it's Canada Day, meaning a huge crowd will be expected for tonight's game and post game fireworks viewing. The Prospects have a lot of American players but it's the Canadian contingent that will be especially proud tonight, like Davis Pratt who joined us in studio to discuss growing up in St. Albert and playing at ReMax field, as well as his freshman year at Cloud County College in Kansas. Dean and Jordan debated the best 1B of all time and shared baseball memories as well as some baseball history from July 1st including an all Canadian pitching match up. Edmonton Prospect starting pitcher Hunter Boyd can rack up the strike outs, but to do this he overcame an injury sustained in an accident when he was a kid. He told us about getting in grooves, and the chess match between pitcher and batter. Dean and Jordan debated the best 2nd basemen of all time and chatted fantasy baseball. Matt Stairs hit the most pinch hit home runs in MLB history and this week the Canadian Baseball HOF member told us what his approach to pinch hitting was, especially his legendary 2008 NLCS bomb off Jonathan Broxton that propelled the Phillies to a World Series. Matt, who will be in Edmonton for the July 7th All Star Game, played for the Trappers at one point as well as the Expos and Blue Jays among other teams. He gave us his opinion on the best ball parks, toughest pitchers and his road to the show. Jordan and Dean also went around the horn in baseball news, discussed some pretty impressive historical milestones in baseball history, the ups and downs of Fantasy Baseball and debated the best third basemen of all time. Speed, power and terrific defence describes Prospects RF Travis Hunt who joined Prospects Head Coach Jordan Blundell and host Dean Millard to discuss his powerful arm and life in Edmonton where he enjoys the cooler temps. We also recapped a busy and roller coaster week for the team and read some listener emails about baseball memories, one of the many contests.
