This week we're focusing in on the community and the impact that Cindy Mondello and Restoration Place Counseling is having in the Greensboro area.
Restoration Place Counseling, a counseling organization that serves girls and women (ages 12 and up), was founded by Cindy Mondello in the spring of 2005. A group of close friends, along with Cindy’s mentor, met on February 20, 2005, and the vision for Restoration Place was cast. The organization was incorporated on April 25 and received its 501(c)3 status on July 14, 2005.
Ms. Mondello holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University-Shreveport and an M.A. in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary-Charlotte. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
The organization was founded with a vision to facilitate emotional and spiritual healing in girls and women, while restoring dignity, virtue, and honor to them, and empowering each to embrace her God-given identity. This purpose is achieved by providing significantly-discounted counseling services, thus eliminating the barrier of high cost and resulting in access to the care clients may otherwise be unable to receive.
Having journeyed through her own pain and suffering, Cindy had a passion to minister to other hurting women, walking with them as a “healed helper” on a path of restoration. Because her focus is now solely on leading the organization as Executive Director, she no longer provides direct client services.
Ms. Mondello received clinical experience from Moses Cone Behavioral Health Center in Greensboro, NC. She also spent time counseling at the Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center. She has worked with adult, college-aged, and adolescent clients who struggle primarily with depression, anxiety, disordered eating and body image issues, and relational issues and has received specialized training in EMDR for the treatment of trauma and Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples. Ms. Mondello is a 2011 graduate of the Executive Directors Academy, a 9-month program offered by the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium in collaboration with Discovery Learning, Moxley and Associates, and the Center for Creative Leadership.
