Your business is growing. But what is it actually building for you and your family?
In this solo episode, host Cordell Reynolds steps back from the guest chair to unpack what he learned from the first three conversations on Protect the Play: Marty McDonald of Boss Woman Media, the Rosler family behind Abby Rose, and Dr. Femi Fadahunsi of Wylie Dentistry Co.
Cordell talks through the courage it takes to make the big ask, and the second conversation every owner needs once the answer is yes: can this business actually carry it? He covers why a million views cannot pack one box, why attention can arrive faster than your operations, and why the finish line belongs to the owner and the family, not the people watching from the sidelines.
He closes with a question every business owner should be able to answer: if the business works the way you hope it does, what will your family have that you don't have today?

What if the goal isn't to build the biggest business you possibly can, but one that actually supports the life you want to live?
Cordell Reynolds sits down with Dr. Femi Fadahunsi, founder and owner of Wylie Dentistry Co. in Wylie, Texas. Femi built his cosmetic and general dental practice from the ground up in 2018, and the work is personal: he spent years self-conscious about his own smile and chose dentistry to give patients the confidence he once lacked.
Femi keeps his practice intentionally small. In this conversation he explains why, how he defines "enough," the filter he uses before saying yes to a new opportunity, and the difference between contentment and complacency. He and Cordell talk about how fatherhood clarified his ambition, how two ambitious spouses keep family from getting what's left over, and what Femi and his wife are building beyond the practice with Simi Lodge, their short-term rental cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
In this episode:
- Why bigger isn't always better, and how to know when your business is big enough
- Process over numbers, and the filter for every new opportunity
- Contentment vs. complacency
- How becoming a father changed (and clarified) ambition
- Making sure family gets the best of you, not what's left over
- Simi Lodge and building something the whole family shares
- Legacy: what Femi wants his kids to become, not just inherit
- What success means to him now, and what he's protecting

What happens when your teenage daughter’s side hustle becomes a real company?
Abby Rosilier started selling phone cases at 16. During COVID, a behind-the-scenes TikTok posted by her twin sister took off, and Abbyrose did roughly $30,000 in sales in two days. Overnight, the family wasn’t helping with a hobby anymore. They had a business to figure out.
Cordell Reynolds sits down with Abby, her dad John, and her brother Zach. John spent nearly 30 years as a corporate CFO before going all in on the family businesses, even using his own retirement savings to buy their longtime supplier, InnoSub, and move it from California to Dallas. Zach, the family’s “blue sky guy,” sees social content as digital real estate and is pushing toward vertical integration. Abby is learning the next hard lesson of entrepreneurship: how to delegate and build something bigger than herself.
But when the conversation turns to what all of this is really meant to protect, their answer isn’t revenue. It’s each other.

What changes when you become willing to ask for more?
Cordell Reynolds sits down with Marty McDonald, founder of Boss Women Media and author of Audacious, to talk about courage, reinvention, rejection, money, family, and the decisions behind meaningful success.
Marty shares how a $55,000 investment eventually helped lead to a $500,000 Amazon partnership, how she found $300,000 in a matter of days when her business needed it, and why learning to advocate for herself started long before she became an entrepreneur.
They also explore authentic leadership, the art of following up without desperation, what rejection can teach you, and what ambition gives and costs a family.
A conversation about making the ask, betting on yourself, and protecting what matters as you grow.
