The father is speaking to a son, desiring that he would be betrothed to the woman who is wisdom, rather than the woman who is foolishness and wickedness.
He exhorts him be attentive to wisdom of God by actively inclining an ear.
When we hear wisdom and follow, we regain that image of God with which we were originally created.
The way of foolishness is easy, until the end! The way of wisdom is hard, until the end!
Would you rather suffer now and have an eternity of joy, or have joy now an eternity of suffering?
For the wise, it is Good Friday now, knowing that Easter is coming.
