When we are afflicted and we can't figure out a rhyme or reason for that affliction, the guidance of Proverbs is to humbly receive this affliction from the hand of God in such a way that one might profit from it. Trust that the affliction is good for us and we see the affliction as His love for us, much as an earthly father loves his children and does not spare the rod.
