The dangers of unchecked human emotions and misplaced priorities are contrasted with the virtues of humility, integrity, and trust in God. Anger and pride are forces that lead to conflict, sin, and ultimately, a person's downfall. When anger becomes a defining trait, it spreads strife and sin. Pride brings a person low. Humility is rewarded with honor. Associating with immoral people and/or remaining silent in the face of wrongdoing can lead to self-destruction. Fearing human consequences is contrasted with placing your trust in God. The fear of man leads to idolatry and spiritual compromise. Trusting in God offers safety and freedom from the manipulations of others. Christ, during his trial, is our example. During our trials, we are encouraged to cultivate humility, integrity, and a deep trust in God. Let go of anything that might be leveraged against us by evil forces.
