Christ's letter to the church at Smyrna is an encouragement to persevere through the hardest of trials. No believer naturally wants to suffer trials. Christ reminds us ~ such difficulties are limited in duration and only allowed by Him. He has Divine purpose in them; we are not to fear, but faithful unto death.

The mindset of a true believer will govern our hearts. If we set our minds correctly on the Lord, then we will know security and joy in our hearts. The Lord will then show us the path of life, which is to be in the presence of the Lord, knowing eternal joy and pleasures.
