How did the Early church set about their work, once they had been prepared by the Lord Jesus and given power at Pentecost- Acts teaches of the vital importance of devotional discipline, before the Apostles start to reach individual lives. The healing of the lame man is a picture of the sad state of humanity, which desires a quick fix, but Peter and John provide the only lasting remedy, Salvation through Jesus Christ. This is a genuine change and is for all eternity.

How can we develop a fearless faithful heart of trust in God- At a time of global challenge and great trials for so many we can learn from the fearless example of King David. He faced numerous enemies, an army encamped around him, slanderers and the loss of his parent's love. But in the midst of these many trials he turns to the Lord for light, salvation and strength. His confidence is in God, so he desires communion with God and he cries out to God.

The human heart is naturally self-confident and makes numerous assumptions about life. James, using the picture of merchants confidently making their business plans, confronts and challenges the pride and self-confidence of the human heart. He asks a simple but profound question -What is your life--. He urges his readers to depend on and to humble themselves before God. If we do so He promises to lift us up to a new life of living in -The Will of God- and depending only on Him.

What were the key activities of the early church- How do these set a clear pattern for all God honouring churches to organise their work and worship for the Lord- These verses show a clear pattern and the fruits that followed as they devoted themselves to the Lord and the Lord added to them daily.

Peter assures his readers that their message was not fully of fairy tales but was given with eye-witness accounts attesting the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. He then counters the lies and false teachers who were seeking to pull people away from -The Way of Truth-. There is only one way of escape from the -Pollutions of this World- and that comes through a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The New Testament contains many commands using the term -One-Another-. This bible study reviews a number of these One-Another texts which relate to Humility as a behaviour and goal for all believers in their conduct.

After hearing Peter's sermon the people are so stirred and convicted by their own sin that they cry out to Peter and the Apostles. Is there anything for us -to do- if salvation is of all of God- Peter urges them to repent and not to wait. What is the Ordo Salutis or order of salvation that Peter reveals through these verses- Are we involved or not-

Paul in his final address to his young protege, Pastor Timothy, urges him to stand firm and to preach the Word. At a time when preaching has become unfashionable Paul reminds us that Preaching is the ordained means and the Divine method to reach souls with the Gospel and with truth.

David's heart was unmoved for 10 months after his great fall into sin. But then after the Lord used Nathan to challenge him he was convicted in his heart and moved to real repentance and seek a clean heart. His change of heart and acknowledgement of his guilt and sin act as a perfect model to understand the steps and process of genuine repentance.

The Word of God contains many commandments that are intended to govern our relationships with and responsibility for the people of God. These commandments help us to rightly focus on these relationships. One sub-group of this family of texts concerns Loving One-Another. We are exhorted to do so on the basis of Christ's love for us.
