Paul declares that he is not ashamed of the Gospel. It is the power of God to salvation and the righteousness of God is revealed in this Gospel, from faith unto faith.

Paul lays out the obligation that he has for preaching the gospel. But this is no unwanted task; he is eager to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Paul further states his prayer to see them and be of benefit one to another.

Paul declares his prayers and desire to meet with the Church in Rome for their mutual benefit.

The recipients of the Epistle are further clarified by the Apostle Paul and the source of their calling is defined along with the gifts of the calling.

The purpose of Paul's apostleship is revealed and ultimately, though it is to bring about the obedience of the faith among the nations, is for the sake of the glory of Jesus Christ.

Paul summarizes the foundation for the whole Epistle in this: Jesus Christ our Lord,

Paul stresses the fact that Christ Jesus is truly God and truly man, as he further develops the gospel of God.

Paul, after stating he is set apart to the Gospel of God, begins to define the substance of that Gospel.
