We talk about its causes, how it played out, and whether we can draw comparisons between the Soviet experience and the American experience. 

Mark is a professor at the University College of London, School of Slavic and East European Studies. He is the author of "Afghanistan, the Soviet Union's Last War" put out by Routledge Press, and a plethora of other books about Russia and the Soviet Union.
