Peter brings his Old Testament allusions to a crescendo as he shows how these Gentile-Elect-Exiles are a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, God's own special people. All of this pointing to how God's collective people should esteem their position, and live in holiness.
Peter concludes the subject of "Soul Purification" by emphasizing its natural extension, love. While Peter concludes this subject he also wants his hearers to be encouraged with motivation so they would press onward, doing the work, and so Peter stacks his text with elements that point to God's work within the Christian.
Guest Preacher: Michael Pagan (Member)
Peter continues to focus the Elect Exiles on the hope that they will certainly have at the Resurrection, in this particular segment Peter wishes that the motivation for final glory would push the saints to purify their souls so they would represent their holy Father.
The salvation ready to be revealed (1:5), which we are being perfected for by trials (1:6,9), is something foretold by the prophets who searched it out diligently, and stared at by angels. What are you and I to do with it?

The foundation of the plan, power, and purpose of God displayed in the initial greeting, and then Peter's focus on the Incorruptible Inheritance of the Christian, Peter is now prepared to give the first charge in his letter, to rejoice greatly knowing that trials exist only when they are in some way NECESSARY for the Christian.
The opening subject in Peter's letter, after the greeting, is the Incorruptible Inheritance that we have been given by God. Peter outlines 5 aspects of the inheritance, followed by 6 aspects of the incorruptibility.
Peter opens his letter addressed to "Elect Exiles." In this greeting he reminds them that their exilic condition is due to the Plan, Power, and Purpose of God.
