This week we begin our reImagine Scripture series. We kick off by looking at 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Our God-breathed sacred text has been given to us as a gift, a responsibility and a mystery. Ultimately, pointing us back to the word made flesh. Jesus the Christ.

We conclude our series on reImagining personhood by looking at the awesomeness of humanity and the call in Psalm 8 to crown each person with glory, honor and dignity. We explore how our inherent dignity is found in our whole person including our bodies.

Associate Pastor to Tabernacle Church, Rev. Kevin Jones, delivers a challenging and inspiring message to our congregation. As a predominantly white, evangelical community we were charged with understanding the totality of the black story in America, our complicity in systems that have disadvantaged people of color and what we can do to work towards a more equitable city. When considering personhood, we have to consider all people and their collective stories that make up the body of Christ. Tabernacle Church is the most historic church in our city and predominantly African American. We have been blessed by their friendship and partnership around the conversation of racial justice.

Randall Flinn, founder and artistic director of Ad Deum Dance Company, unpacks how the recapturing of the beauty in our faith is essential to understanding our personhood and falling in love with our God.

This week, we begin our series on reImagining eternity. We take a broad look at how history, geography and culture have shaped our views of Heaven and Hell. Over the coming weeks, we’ll juxtapose some common misconceptions with what we think is a more Christ like understanding.
