PRSB hosted a live podcast in June 2023 about recording and sharing diabetes information.

Attendees heard from Iain Cranston, Consultant Physician in Diabetology and Endocrinology, who spoke about the current practices in recording and sharing diabetes data and the use of wearables in monitoring diabetes, including how the PRSB's Diabetes Record Information Standard can support data interpretation and reduce the burden of documentation.

Ojaih Willow, PRSB's People Lead who lives with type 2 diabetes shared her experiences and discussed how she hopes the standard will help her share her data more effectively and improve the self-management of people with diabetes in general.

There are currently 237 million medication errors every year. While the safety risks are small for many patients, for others there are serious risks because of errors in prescribing, dispensing or monitoring medications. 

Patients may find they are having to repeat their medication information to different clinicians, and for those on several medications this can be confusing and stressful. When this information can be easily transferred between systems, it will lead to safer and better care. In this podcast we talk about the real benefits this will bring, and how it will impact both clinicians and patients.

Having conversations about end of life care can be hard. Once decisions have been made it’s vital that this information is recorded and shared in the right way so that a person can receive the care they want.

Campaigner and former carer Roberta Lovick joins the PRSB podcast with Compassion in Dying nurse Sarah Malik, to talk about their own experiences with end of life care. As well as discussing the difficulties of opening these conversations to begin with, they talk about the challenges of what happens when conversations don’t happen, or information isn’t communicated correctly.

Standards can only be beneficial if we put them into action. In this podcast, Dr Afzal Chaudhry from Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust speaks to PRSB about the positive changes he has seen as a result of using standards, and offers his advice to other organisations.
