From the seed sprouts the root

From the root sprouts the stem

Sprouts the limb

From the limb sprouts the flower

Sprouts the leaf and the fruit

Flowers bloom and wilt

Fruit is consumed

Leaves, limbs, and seed

Take to wind

In the turmoil

The stem may even uproot

Roots, leaves, and limbs disintegrate

The seed remains whole

Waiting for rebirth

You appear the root

The stem, the limb

Flower, fruit, and leaf

You are the seed

Remember; remain centered

Immersed in dualities

Ideas and thoughts

Of what is …

Good and evil

Black and white

Female and male

Yin and yang

Know as creations of thought

Dualities are ever-changing

Momentary, ripples upon an ocean

Distorting what they reflect

Do not look for yourself

In what is ever-changing

Note all as it comes

Revel in its fragile beauty

Embody the depth and radiance

That lies beneath, unseen

The seed does not know

Where the wind will take it

It leaves no footprint

To mar the pristine air

Only when it lands

Settles in the mud and dirt

Is it reborn

Transforming the barren

To the lush and productive

Breaking up the soil

Encouraging others

To follow its example

To grow

The teacher can only teach

Because she has learnt

What another has not

She is not good

The student is not bad

She is not sharp

The student is not dull

Simply … her seed

Has landed

The other’s is in flight

Once coaxed to earth

The student becomes the teacher

The teacher becomes the student

All is new and unfolding

The Tao

Cannot be defined

By thoughts, words, or concepts

But she can be embodied

Brought forth to aid in all things

At all times

Through her all things flow

Return to origin

To flow again

When called upon

She shows the master

True intelligence

As with blood to the body

Life flows through the earth

The earth through the universe

The universe through the Tao

The Tao embodies all

The master embodies the Tao

The wind blows

From the direction it comes

With the strength it levies

Until it blows no more

The rain falls hard

From heavy clouds

Until the clouds lighten

Are clouds no more

Then there is no more rain

The wind and rain do not question the Tao

Nor does the sun that follows

Embody the Tao

Say what you must

Cry when you feel pain

Do not seed the clouds and the wind

With the heavy bluster of the internal foe

Every storm will pass

The internal foe

Is a born competitor

Wanting to be first

It is always behind

By desiring all

It remains incomplete

Looking to become full

Through acquiring

It remains empty

It strives for eternal life

Resists rebirth

The master knows

All comes from the Tao

There is no competing with all

Understanding this

The master always has a place

With no ends in mind

He speaks only the truth

Serving only the Tao

The Tao does not fail

The master does not fail

Into each moment

He is reborn

He exists in all

All exists in him

The master is truly himself

The material world

Is the mirror to the Tao

All reflections are shallow

Lacking in substance

In comparison to what casts it

Yet the reflection does not know this

It behaves as though it is the source

Unaware and unknowingly

There is no reflection

Without the source

There is no mirror

Without the builder

The Tao is both builder and source

To the mirror …

Immeasurable

Ungraspable

Timeless

Radiant

Do not measure

Do not grasp

Understand eternity

Shed the mask of the internal foe

Reflect radiance

The internal foe is born from thought

Comparing and labelling

It labels evil and good

So what it believes itself to be

May be called good

So what it sees as different

May be called evil

It must accumulate

So it may have more than another

What it wants is good

What the other wants is evil

What it does is good

What the other does is evil

End this thinking

Do not label and compare

Your battles are over

The internal foe seeks out

The extremes of duality

Let it lead you

Remain unbalanced

Let the internal foe feed you

Remain ever hungry

Let the Tao lead you

Find the center

Find balance

Feed from the Tao

Lack for nothing

Discard what you believe

To be sage, holy, or wise

Ideals lead to judgement

Give up the desire

To appear moral or fair

Seek the center

Be industrious

Let generosity be your profit

You will meet no thieves

There is no need to pursue happiness

It lies in every core

Let things unfold as they will

The center remains the center

It will reveal itself

Virtue is revered

When virtue is lost

Intelligence governs

When ignorance shoves out intelligence

Authority reigns

When authority is inevitably thrown-off

Violence is king
