Our extreme positivity culture, especially in Western socities, is breeding toxic positivity. You might recognize it in the form of sterotypical blanketed positive comments such as "just be positive" or "you'll get over it; look on the brightside" when telling someone to remain positive no matter how challenging or distressing their situation may be.
