The Canadian government plans to take $7.4 billion from the Public Service Pension Plan, sparking outrage among public service workers. The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) accuses the government of breaking trust and disrespecting workers, arguing the surplus should benefit both contributors. PSAC is demanding a suspension of employee contributions and an end to the unfair two-tier pension system. While the government claims legal obligations to transfer the surplus to the Consolidated Revenue Fund, PSAC warns this sets a dangerous precedent for other employers.
