1) The summer months can bring about many different emotions. No matter what we are feeling or experiencing, the psalms will meet us there! How have the psalms met you where you are, (emotionally, physically, or spiritually), this summer?
2) Do you have a particular verse, image, memory, or story that is a constant reminder to you of God’s presence in your life? What is it?
3) Read Psalm 40:1-3. The psalm starts out with good news. Sometimes we need to hear a good story of victory, because in those moments of victory, we can find mountains of hope. Is there a “moments of victory” story from scripture or from your personal life that leads you to “mountains of hope”?
4) Read Psalm 40:5. Make a written list of God’s wonderful deeds. Place them somewhere you will see them and be reminded of them often.
5) Read Psalm 40:10. Is telling others about the greatness of God something you do often? If not, what is holding you back?
6) In Sunday’s teaching, we were reminded that “We don’t have to stay in our pit. We are not doomed to it, destined to it or confined to it.” What does this psalm teach you about getting out of your pit?
