In preparation for these questions, please read Psalm 51.
1) Psalm 51 was written after David sinned by having an illicit relationship with Bathsheba. In his remorse, we see David go towards God in repentance; his sin pushes him to God’s throne. What is your reaction to sin in your life? Do you allow it to push you away from God or do you go towards Him, seeking His forgiveness?
2) Repentance isn’t something that is frequently talked about in today’s Christian culture. It certainly isn’t fun to feel convicted or admit your wrongdoing, but why is it an essential spiritual discipline in the life of a believer? How often do you consider if there are things in your life you need to be repentant of?
3) Read Hebrews 4:12. How can this scripture impact your willingness to go to God in repentance and confession?
4) Read Romans 7:18-20. In this section of scripture, the Apostle Paul understands that sin's power in our life can cause us to do things we don’t want to do. Is there anything in your life that you need to repent of? Strongly consider sharing this with someone else to get support and accountability in removing this sin from your life.
