Psalm 83: God Multiplies What Is Given

Listen Later

Psalm 83. The psalmist goes through and reviews the enemies/countries around Israel. Verse 6, some enemies were family who chose to serve other gods. Edom is from Jacob’s twin Esau and Ishmaelites is Isaac’s half brother. Verse 8, Assyria was the enemy of all of them, but sided against Israel. Verse 9 refers to the beginning of Judges (chapter 4 and 7) with Barak and Deborah and Sisera killed by a woman. Our resources will never be enough, but God’s resources are not limited. We need to be willing to give what we have and God will multiply it. God can not multiply zero if you give nothing. Zero times any number is zero. Someone gave the fish and loaves and Jesus multiplied it. Others’ resources are nothing when we have access to God as our resource. Verse 16, shows that when God humbles the pride of His enemies with shame that then they may seek the Lord.
