「Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;

　Keep watch over the door of my lips.」　Amen.

　Jacob said that he who can control his tongue can control his life. It is not always easy to say what needs to be said, or to fail to say what needs to be said. The psalmist must have been well aware of such human weakness. He placed a watchman and prayed for protection. It is a very wise prayer.

　May the Lord protect us today.
