The renewing of the mind according to Romans 12:2 is the key to teaching our minds and wills who we now have become excepting Jesus Christ.

But if we refuse to allow our born-again human spirits to teach our minds who we have become through accepting Jesus Christ, we will find a huge struggle inside ourselves, because our human mind will fight against everything that our born-again spirit says.

Why ?

Because our bodies are controlled by our minds or thought life, in contrast to our born-again human spirits.
