  • 92. Change your Mind with Plants and THOT Yoga
This week I introduce THOT YOGA, a new "Dustin, The Wind" TEXTLINE NUMBER (605)-606-4647, I share a 10 minute audio clip from episode 32 of the podcast where I talk about the impression Pisac made on me during my first visit in 2021 (the clip starts at 20:17 min and ends at 28:20 min. There is a lot of dead space as it's just me talking through my thoughts to myself in a hostel dorm bed after my first experience with a special cactus), after the throw back piece I jump in different readings from the books I'm currently reading- Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley, How to Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan, and Gift of Power: The Life and Teachings of a Lakota Medicine Man by Archie Fire Lame Deer and Richard Erdoes. Huxley felt with mescaline that everything is supremely as it should be, Pollan shares the story of Gordon Wasson meeting Maria Sabina the healer from Mexico and the fallout of his Life Magazine article from the 50's, and Archie Lame Deer writes about the sacred sundance of the Lakota people and shares his thoughts on outsiders (white people) who want to join and a consequence from the 80's when they allowed an outsider to participate in a sundance ritual.

  • 91. Soggy Hotdog Buns and Spiritually Significant Experiences
This week I practice some more yoga, talk about yoga bringing awareness to all my cracks, and pops, and soreness. Briefly recap another blur of a fireworks season spending lots of time on the road and having the opportunity to travel some of the same highways I traveled during last summer's 50 states road trip, amazing sunsets, blooming cancer crops, and missing my family during the holidays. I talk about the challenge I had recording and posting last week's episode and try to share how I feel about posting on the internet at times when I have doubts and when my mind is not at ease. Finally, I end the podcast by talking the Netflix documentary releasing next Tuesday (July 12) called "How to Change Your Mind" based of Michael Pollan's best selling book from 2018 by the same name and skimming a 2006 peer reviewed paper from Johns Hopkins University titled, "Psilocybin can occasion mystical-type experienceshaving substantial and sustained personal meaning and spiritual significance". Enjoy!

  • 90. The Strenuous Life
Sorry for the delay this week.
This week's episode opens with a speech given by Teddy Roosevelt called the Strenuous Life then I ramble on about America settling back in on me. Gas stations, plastic nonsense, frozen food and fast food- living in a food desert on fertile ground. Cynicism, trust, frustrations, worries.

  • 88. WAKE UP! It's time for the halftime show
This week I am taking a break from the Bolivian Backpackers Series and free ballin' it. It has been quite some time since I podcasted without a plan and I had a great time tonight just opening my mouth and seeing where my mind would wander.
This week I offer advice to make a crazy person, share my surface level thoughts and observations from my first week back in the United States since last October, coming home for my cornhole championship trophy, haunted basements (parts of this story are untrue), retiring as a Federal Podcaster, running out of money, reintegration, and whole lot of things, some questions left unanswered.
**I have to put it on record! How could I forget taking my first yoga class at TruFusion in Las Vegas with the teacher, and studio, and friends where yoga all started for me. It made me so happy the moment I realized how comfortable I was in that setting.

bienvenidos to the Dustin, The Wind podcast special series. BOL BOL BOL! Bolivia Backpack Adventures!!! Over the course of the next 6 weeks (week 2) or so, I will be sharing stories from the 3 months I spent backpacking through Bolivia. Delicious street food, insane bus rides, magical landscapes and more. Jaguars, llamas, monkeys galore! I will be presenting the episodes in a story telling narrative through my accounts. Tied into my accounts will include observations, tidbits I learned, questions I asked, questions I answered, questions I haven’t answered. The narrative will include travel tips and insider information. I took many notes, I kept tabs on my psyche, and took many pictures and videos. This format is new for Dustin, The Wind podcast and I’m excited to explore this way of sharing what I have learned and experienced with you. I hope it gives an experienced traveler the confidence to take their travels to another level, a curious but hesitant traveler the confidence they need to get out for an adventure, and a vicarious armchair traveler some home adventure. I hope to bring the country Bolivia to life in the best way I can based on my experiences and what I learned. The people, the landscapes, and the culture. I will also share thoughts I had during my 3 months. Times when I was happy, times when I was sad, times when I was confused. My happy thoughts and sad, my anxious thoughts and my excited thoughts, my lonely contemplations and my social exasperations.
I have plenty to say over the course of the next 5 weeks, so let's get to it. Sit back, relax, don't worry about buckling up. Where we are going seatbelts have no place. Grab a bag of coca, your adventure bag, and meet me at the Altiplano.
