Punch Drunk TV 111: Hill Houses Be Haunting

Listen Later

Being that we're smack-dab in the middle of October, you best believe there is a "fuck-ton," as Jack likes to say, of horror goodies available to peruse on the small screen. And more are coming.

Not only do we end up highlighting some of those items to look forward to, but we also go almost three hours in this episode -- because Jack's going to Japan for Halloween leaving me in my baby poop bunker just 'a shaking my fist.

NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:

  • In its second episode of Season 9, "The Walking Dead's" ratings declined further, bringing in 5-million viewers — which was a 19% drop from the season premiere.
  • "Supergirl" will introduce Lex Luthor in Season 4.
  • An "NYPD Blue" sequel series is in the works at ABC. The return of the series follows Andy Sipowicz's (original star Dennis Franz) son, Theo, as he tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father's murder.
  • HBO has canceled "Animals" after three seasons.
  • HBO has handed out raises to "Westworld's" main actors as pre-production on Season 3 looms. Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Thandie Newton are said to be getting $250,000 an episode after the drama's first round of contract negotiations. Previously, each actor was rumored to be making somewhere between $100,000 and $150,000 an episode.
  • Netflix announced they'll be ending "Orange Is the New Black" after Season 7, which will air in 2019.
  • Netflix is teaming with the BBC on a "Dracula" miniseries from Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the creative team behind Sherlock.
