Years ago I started writing “Please Ask Before Reading” in giant letters on the notebooks I wrote songs in.  Although some of the songs in those notebooks people had heard there were some I was still trying to keep private. Sometimes I've written songs to be played for people right away and others I've kept to myself asking myself "Have I said something too personal?" "Will someone misinterpret what I'm saying?" "Am I ready to share this with others?"

To keep the private songs from leaking before I was ready to bring them into the public I wrote "Please Ask Before Reading" on these notebooks.   The private writing and the public writing is an odd balance as a songwriter. But taking that step and making a private song public to your friends, the audience at a show, or the internet is exhilarating. It's wondering giving life to a song beyond its pages and the four walls of my room.

These songs feel like they were taken from the pages of a well-worn notebook now being released and shared with us. They do not disappoint. I’m excited for you all to hear the music on this episode of the podcast,

It’s been a long winter. 2020 pulled no punches and 2021 hasn’t pulled many. I feel the music in this episode will give us some space of looking forward to spring, looking forward to change, while also looking back reflecting on this ending season, reflecting on a hard year. So here’s to growth from the past and to growing in the future.

Episode 3 features a poetry pre game with one of my favorite poems read by my wife and I. Act 1 is my good friend Will Myers will start us off by playing a solo set of wonderful songs from his band Rat Dreams. Act 2 will be music from my good friend Stephen McFall providing us with some ambient bliss.

Get the blankets ready, wash your favorite mug, brew some great coffee, and hunker down, cause it’s been a long winter.
