Unfortunately, people do always go with the best choice but the option that is top of mind.  Even if you have the best product or service, if people don't know you exist it will be nearly impossible for them to choose you, your product or your service.
We made a job about the people that run the media in our country get to be the puppet masters pulling the strings and telling society what to think about, what to choose, and what is important.  So in a twisted but similar way you can help sway public opinion by advertising in a way that keeps you top of mind.  Remind that all the marketing in the world won't help you if your product or service sucks!!
