  • Seven Destructive Abominations
What happens when a believer unknowingly works against what God is building? How can we tell whether we are surrendered to God's will or deceived by our own rightness? And what does Scripture reveal about the attitudes that destroy unity, truth, and spiritual growth? This lesson explores the Seven Abominations in Proverbs 6:16–19, showing how each one opposes God's character, undermines His work, and reflects the spirit of antichrist. Through honest self‑examination and Biblical clarity, we learn how pride, lying, false witness, and sowing discord tear down what God intends to strengthen — and how surrender to His will restores unity, purity, and spiritual power in the church. ✅ Sign up to join thousands of others feasting on Dr. Briney's Vitamins For The Soul newsletter. ➡️ START your dose of spiritual nourishment to enrich your life now by clicking: https://patrickbriney.com/vitamins --------- Church Vision ---------- --------------CONTENT---------------- 00:00 Lord, Is it I? 06:24 A New Series About Vision 23:44 Seven Abominations 27:41 Self-reflection 38:42 The Two Threats to Doing God's Work.

  • Psalm 12
This sermon examines Psalm 12 as a contrast between the pervasive deceit of humanity and the absolute purity of God's Word. The text highlights the universal nature of human lies and flattery, which often serve self-interest rather than truth, while affirming that God's speech is refined and trustworthy like silver. The central pivot of the psalm is identified as God's promise to arise and protect the afflicted, offering a present victory in suffering rather than merely a future hope. This assurance is grounded in the character of Christ, the Godly One who intercedes for His people, and is illustrated through the imagery of Noah's Ark as a place of safety amidst chaos. The message concludes with a pastoral encouragement to trust in God's sovereign guidance during times of affliction, recognizing that His Word remains the ultimate anchor against the corruption of the world.

  • Wisdom From Above
This sermon explores the distinction between earthly wisdom and the wisdom from above as presented in James 3. It defines true wisdom as the skill of godly living, requiring the application of moral truth with a meek spirit rather than mere intellectual knowledge. The text contrasts the destructive nature of bitter jealousy and selfish ambition, which lead to disorder, with the fruit of the Spirit, including purity, peace, gentleness, and sincerity. The message emphasizes that these qualities are not achieved through human effort but are the result of yielding to the Holy Spirit over time. Ultimately, the sermon points to Jesus Christ as the embodiment of divine wisdom, whose self-sacrificial love on the cross provides the righteousness and reconciliation that human striving cannot attain.

  • His Sacrifice
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 1. The pre-eminence of his sacrifice. 2. The People included in this sacrifice. 3. The Purity of his sacrifice. 4. The Participants in this sacrifice. This sermon explores the theological significance of Christ as the ultimate Passover sacrifice, drawing parallels between the Old Testament lamb and Jesus' atoning death. The central message emphasizes that true life begins only through the new birth, which is made possible by the preeminence, inclusiveness, and purity of Christ's sacrifice. The exposition highlights that while humanity shares guilt in the crucifixion, God sovereignly ordained the event to satisfy divine justice. The preacher stresses the necessity of applying the blood of Christ to one's life through faith, distinguishing genuine trust from mere intellectual assent. Ultimately, the sermon calls listeners to rely solely on this perfect substitution for cleansing and eternal salvation.

  • Radical Purity
This sermon examines Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount regarding the seventh commandment, arguing that adultery is fundamentally a matter of the heart rather than merely a physical act. The central message is that lust is a disordered desire that originates in the inner man, requiring believers to guard their eyes and imaginations as gateways to the soul. The preacher urges a radical approach to sin, using Christ's hyperbolic language of removing eyes and hands to illustrate the necessity of taking serious, decisive action to cut off access points to temptation. While acknowledging the dire consequences of uncontrolled sin, the message ultimately points to the grace of Jesus Christ, who cleanses believers and empowers them to pursue holiness. The sermon concludes with practical applications, encouraging the removal of sinful gateways and the replacement of covetous desires with genuine love for one's spouse and, most importantly, for the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus Cleanses the Leper
This sermon examines the healing of a leper in Mark 1 to reveal the identity and character of Jesus as the holy Son of God who willingly engages with human uncleanness. The exposition highlights the severity of leprosy under the Mosaic Law, emphasizing the social and spiritual isolation of the afflicted, to underscore the radical nature of Jesus' compassion and authority. By touching the man and declaring him clean, Jesus demonstrates that his holiness is not compromised by sin, contrasting his divine purity with the ritual impurity of the leper. The text further illustrates Jesus' fulfillment of the Law by commanding the man to present himself to the priest, affirming the validity of God's word while exercising superior power over it. Ultimately, the passage serves as a pastoral assurance that no one is too sinful for Jesus to save, inviting believers to rest in his grace and share the news of his cleansing power.

  • Woe to the Pharisees, Part 3
Though the Pharisees were dead, dirty, and blind to their need, can you see your great and desperate need for Christ? As you continue to battle the corruption of your flesh within, always be mindful of how easy it is to focus on polishing how people see you and neglect and cover the issues in your heart and obedience to Christ. Therefore, though Jesus' Gospel call of "first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also" fell on dead ears and hearts in them, may it resound loudly and deeply in you today. The two are inseparably connected! It couldn't be done in their own strength, and it can't in yours either. You need Jesus!
