Between 2020 and 2022, Justin & Laura Houghton walked through an incredibly difficult season where they lost three pregnancies in less than a year. During this time, they were deeply impacted by a worship song called, “Another in the Fire.” This song, which comes directly from Daniel chapter 3, speaks the truth that Jesus is with us in the midst of life’s biggest fires...and that is the thread that weaves itself all through Justin & Laura’s testimony.

Sam Harbin has been attending Calvary for the last ten years. During that time, he has also been serving as the Chair of the Bible and Theology Department at Lancaster Bible College, where he works with undergrad, graduate, and PhD students. God has blessed Sam with experience both in local churches and in higher education, and that experience has had ripple effects that have allowed ministry to take place, even beyond what Sam has been able to witness.

In addition to being an elder, Jay Weaver is also one of Calvary’s Global Partners, based stateside in Lancaster County. Jay has a deep, historical connection to Calvary Church, and his knack for analytics makes him a valuable asset to our Elder Board. Jay’s story is a reminder to all of us just how important it is to take the time to remember God’s faithfulness in our lives.

In this final episode of 2023, we get to hear from Steve and Jemi Rohrer, who are Calvary Global Partners serving in Japan. Currently on their first extended furlough in 35 years, God perfectly orchestrated this time for the Rohrer’s to be Stateside. God is doing amazing work in Japan, and because Steve and Jemi have been serving there for many decades, they have had the opportunity to see some of the fruit of their labor come full circle.

Terri Sherman serves as Calvary’s Global Ministries Coordinator, which is a role that she’s held for 20 years! While staffing and processes have changed over time, what has remained true is that Terri has been faithful to come alongside both the Global Ministries team and our Global Partners in order to help Calvary Church carry out our value of going into God’s world. In many ways, Terri has a front row seat to hear stories of how God is at work all over the globe, and she loves bringing attention to those stories so that others can pray and praise God for His faithfulness. But today, Terri is sharing how God has been at work in her life as she has sought to follow Him.

In this final episode of our “I Have Decided” series, Katina is joining us to share about the ways that God has transformed her life through the most unexpected and traumatic of circumstances. Katina’s walk with the Lord has very much been characterized by open doors that lead to incredibly difficult situations. But, despite the feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and shame that those situations brought about, God has been faithful to continuously draw Katina back to Himself, revealing His character and His faithfulness time and time again.

Adam Derus serves as the Director of Young Adults at Calvary Church, which means that he spends the majority of his time with 18 to 30-year-olds. Adam’s early college years were pivotal in his Christian walk, so naturally he is passionate about working with this age group as they navigate through the changes and questions of young adulthood. Today, Adam is sharing his story of coming to know Jesus and how God directed his steps towards seminary and full-time ministry.

Ian Forrey is a young adult whose life has recently been radically changed. In Ian’s words, he really had no opinion about the gospel. It wasn’t until he got involved in Young Adult Ministries, witnessed the faith of others, and heard David Platt speak at Cross-Conference that he allowed the truth of the gospel to change his heart and his life. Ian is now passionate about reading Scripture and growing as a disciple of Jesus, and he is here today to share about the ways that following Jesus has transformed his life.

Larry Richardson grew up knowing very little about a personal relationship with Jesus. While he attended Catholic Mass regularly, went through catechism, and even served as an altar boy, he believed that his baptism as a baby was his ticket to heaven. But, as an adult, Larry wrestled with questions like, “Is God real?” “Who is He?” and, “Do heaven and hell really exist?” And, while God met him in his questioning in an unexpected way, it wasn’t until later in life that he began to truly grow in his pursuit of life in Christ.

Kathy Noel serves on staff at Calvary Church as the Director of Child Discipleship. That means that her primary role is brainstorming and implementing ways that we can help kids pursue life in Christ, which includes coming alongside parents as they seek to disciple their children daily. Kathy started serving with kids when she was just a teenager, and she has a wealth of experience in both ministry and education that God has used to equip her for the work she’s doing now.
