Pushing The Envelope: Music Decidedly Left Center episodes
- 11-16-24 Pushing The Envelope: Music Decidedly Left of Center
Greetings!
So, during my recent jaunt to Europe, I found a killer used CD/vinyl store in Budapest and was tempted to dispose of my clothes and just fill my suitcase up with CDs. The track from George Harrison's "Electronic Sound" is a sampling from the stack I did procure, with other items likely to show up in the coming weeks.
I'm also happy to highlight electric guitarist Garrett Gleason's "Myths & Hymns", incredibly imaginative take on Adam Guettel's beautiful song cyle.
Enjoy!

Greetings!
Well, I'm off on vacation and between work and packing, not a lot of time to assemble the varied type of program you've grown to know and love. That being said, in lieu of playing another re-run, I've chosen a pair of fascinating long-form works from Markus Reuter & Kate Soper.
Enjoy!

This is the first in a pair of programs that will feature extended pieces, primarily because I am preparing, then will be travelling to Europe and felt this would be a good opportunity to present some longer compositions together a smattering of other interesting items.

Greetings!
Some new things from the folks at Neuma Records & Projekt Records morphs into a bunch of used goodies I found in a store in Ellicott City, MD. Someone was getting rid of their collection of prog and prog-metal, so I scarfed up a handful of Spock's Beard releases along with most of what comprises Phase Two.
Enjoy!

2 hr - 9-28-24 Pushing The Envelolpe: Music Decidedly Left of Center - Celebrating National Piano Month
Greetings!
PTE closes out the month of September by celebrating National Piano Month with a taste of numerous musical genres featuring the instrument that Andrés Segovia described as, " a monster that screams when you touch its teeth" or as author Maria Cristina noted, “The piano keys are black and white but they sound like a million colors in your mind.”
That being said, I'm particularly fond of Thelonius Monk's observation, “The piano ain’t got no wrong notes.”
Enjoy!

Greetings!
Much new listening for us all this week! I'm particularly thrilled to open this week's program with new music from composer/reed player, Ken Field's latest Neuma Records release, "The Canopy". Ken is an old friend of Pushing The Envelope and it's alway a sonic pleasure when he puts out a new release.
In addition, lots of music from other folks who've you've heard on PTE previously, featuring new releases from Ken Wallraf, Trem77 & Fletina (in tandem w/ fellow sound artist, Peter Wullen).
Lastly, I broke out my copy of Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" to close things out.
Enjoy!
