Put a shine on that coin

Listen Later

Put a shine on that coin

Walking along, head hanging low

Becoming all too familiar you know

Supposed to learn and most of all be patient

Pick a dirty penny from the ground

Parties all over I listen to the sound

I can hear the music, and I feel the vibration

Smiles and laughs but I never do join

Closed my eyes, wished, and put a shine on that coin

Sometimes the road gets bad and you’re stuck

Seems no matter how you try you have no luck

Stepped on by people who don’t seem to care

Siphoning all your love, your life and your money

Leaving you for dead in search of more honey

Don’t just lie there, rise above and get some clean air

Been kicked before, hurt like hell and it left me bruised

Face down in the dirt I have to tell you I wasn’t amused

Picked a penny from my teeth, wondered where I was going

Closed my eyes, wished and put a shine on that coin

I looked to the Heavens above, I said give me a break

How many more of these heartaches can one man take?

I give my all, I don’t act badly, and I never tell a lie

I say I love you, but all I hear is laughter and I start to cry

So I got this penny, I found it the last time that I fell

I need a break, I’m wishing hard for a ride out of this hell

Heard people say it’s useless and there really is no point

But I closed my eyes, wished and put a shine on that coin

See what happens…
