Today's Cup Devotion: “I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.” (Philippians 3:12-14 MSG)
God does not call us to a life of perfection. He desires us to have a willing heart. It’s not about perfection, it’s about progress.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO STRIVE FOR PROGRESS AND NOT PERFECTION?
Progress = making gradual steps forward; moving ahead in a process, change, or development.
Perfection = the most favorable condition or highest level. It means: without flaws or defects; faultless; complete; pure.
To strive for progress, not perfection, means that you should appreciate and be proud of your work. You shouldn’t be focused on what something could or should be; instead, focus on the small steps, the positive ways to improve yourself, and moving forward.
Today, I would like to encourage you to focus on doing what God has called you to do, as best you can without fear of consequences for imperfections.
What do you need to give yourself grace for today, and recognize you are making progress?
Be Encouraged!
