In order to see the kingdom of God, we must each experience a transformation so total it cannot be attributed to human achievement. This is what Jesus described to Nicodemus when the latter attempted to make Jesus a political leader—contrasting the earthly kingdom Nicodemus hoped to see to the spiritual kingdom He was building. This encounter must then become a precedent for the rest of our lives.
