Shane Manier is the founder of Guerilla Poets, a nonprofit art collective with branches in the US and UK. A multi talented Poet who has embraced the leader in her, she is a Creative Coach, a Visual Artist, a Trauma Informed Care Instructor, and a Tedx Speaker.
In QELP’s 11th episode, Shane Manier shared how she transcended inertia and violence in and came out as a poet and a mentor to younger generations of poets and beyond. She created a healthy and supportive community to help poets live in their truth. Her poetry collection, Road Hunger, has just been published.
In this fluid conversation, we discuss the dangers of wrapping our identity into our art, how a poet matures, fame, the natural need for validation, the power of detachment, and the poetic practice as a divine download. Qui est le Poète & Revue {R}évolution are elated to have her on the show. Get struck: Connect with Shane Manier & read her interview in a {R}évolution

This episode of QELP/Who is a Poet gives a voice to The Poetical Manifesto one more time.
Remember: Episode 4 concluded that Poets are complex beings serving transcendence which makes them channel to genius. Now what happens to beings like that? Consumption happens.

A Poet adds wonder, magic and love all around her, no matter what. On March 21st, Julie Pellissier-Lush started something wonderful. She began recording poems and hosting online powwows to share Beauty and Harmony in the midst of a pandemic. Julie Pellissier-Lush is a Poet and as such, she is multitalented: an actress, a singer, songwriter, photographer, a mother of five and the first Mi’kmaq Poet Laureate of Prince Edward Island in PEI history. She is the author of My Mi’kmaq Mother, a story of motherly love and loss, and Mi'kmaq Campfire Stories (The Acorn Press), a voyage into the world of the Mi’kmaq people. Qui est le Poète? is honored to have her for this 8th episode.

Poets are not for consumption. Artists are not slaves to praise with mediocre fame (=emotional greed). Poets and Artists create the civilizations and cultures that fill up our history books. They do not deserve to die in abject fame or poverty. They deserve reverence, intimacy and respect. They deserve to be our beloved teachers again, not pop stars we will consume and reject once all radiance has been sucked out of them. The Poetical Manifesto is the Artist's Manifesto. The Poetical Manifesto is the ethical manifesto. The Manifesto speaks.
