take some notes的notes，和notebook的note一樣，是「筆記」、「備忘錄」的意思，make notes 和take notes，則是指「做筆記」。還有，a short letter(短箋)也可以說成note。take some notes的some，表示「只記要點，而不是全部」的含意。
離席或是離開房間的時候，可不要悶不吭聲地走出去，至少得說聲 Excuse me.或Excuse me for a moment.，這是英語的禮貌。
第二句的~I'll get a pen and paper.(我去拿筆和紙。)，也可以說成I'll go get something to write with。像go get這樣兩個動詞連用的情況，是口語省略的結果，原本應該是go and get 或 go to get。用在強調的時候，最好不要省略。
a pen一般是指「筆」，可是換成了the pen，就帶有「筆的力量」這種象徵意義了。各位都很熟悉的諺語The pen is mightier than the sword.，意思就是「筆比劍強(文比武強)。」。
