Ryan Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder who authorities allege became a drug kingpin and killer, has pleaded not guilty to a slew of crimes. Wedding's case attracted international attention, in part because he was a fugitive for a decade.

How did he do it?

Robin Marc Smith understands. A life on the run is his story, too.

He is a reformed thief and fraud artist who was once on the run from Canadian authorities for more than 16 years.

Today, he's retired from a life of crime and lives with his wife on a horse farm in New Brunswick - but, back in the late 1980s, Smith was on a fraud and theft spree across Canada that totalled hundreds of crimes in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and several cities in Ontario.
