What is Neurodivergence?
Neurodivergence refers to cognitive differences that deviate from what is considered ‘neurotypical’, or traditional, ways of processing information. It is a different way of thinking and experiencing the world. Seen through the lens of neurodiversity, these differences are not merely acceptable but incredibly normal and valuable. The Importance of Recognizing Neurodivergence Recognizing and understanding neurodivergence is invaluable for creating inclusive environments that respect each individual’s unique cognitive functioning. As we better comprehend these cognitive differences, we can eliminate barriers and provide everyone with equal opportunities to participate and thrive Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a prime example of neurodivergence. It’s a neurological condition that remarkably influences the way individuals interpret information and engage with their surroundings. ASD is marked by unique communication styles, social interaction methods, and repetitive behaviours. Being a spectrum disorder, it manifests in diverse ways with varying severity across individuals.
