The impact of social media and prolonged access to cellphones has a variety of challenges, including emotional, social, and psychological factors. Young adults, particularly university students, are disproportionately affected, with over 50% of heavy smartphone users reporting hand pain or dysfunction. Increasingly, parents are using gadgets to keep their children busy. Parents must consider the impact of underdeveloped muscles, tendons and bones when giving unlimited access to cellphones.
