FC Cincinnati and New York Red Bulls have developed a bit of a rivalry the past few years, especially after five meetings in 2023. The Orange and Blue knocked New York out of the playoffs two straight years and now they meet for the first time in 2024, on Saturday at TQL Stadium.
To discuss this week's matchup, Mark Fishkin of The Seeing Red Podcast joins the show and provides insight from 15 years covering the New York Red Bulls. We discussed a different brand of soccer Sandro Schwarz is implementing in his first full season as coach, how former FC Cincinnati midfielder Frankie Amaya is doing in New York, why Red Bulls fans booed Matt Miazga after his penalty kick in the playoffs and more.
Fishkin joins for the second half of the episode, just before the 25-minute mark.
In the first part of the show, Laurel flies solo recapping FC Cincinnati's 1-1 draw at Charlotte FC and the news of the week, including Roman Celentano's ankle injury and Quimi Ordonez's loan. Also, hear audio clips from coach Pat Noonan and Matt Miazga.
The episode wraps up with a couple of mailbag questions, as usual.
